Full-time Potato Production Co-ordinator, nr Taunton, Somerset
Our family run business has become one of the largest seed potato growers in the south of England, supplying major customers in the UK and overseas. This is a great opportunity to develop your career and gain knowledge of the seed potato industry through being part of an experienced team. You will have attention to detail and be able to work in a methodical manner, attaining the highest standards of traceability and quality control. You will have a positive attitude with good problem-solving skills and work well as part of a team.
This role is predominantly based in the yard at the farm, but off-site working will be required for 2-3 months of the year pertaining to plant health and crop inspections.
The job will involve:
- Working on a day-to-day basis with the owner of the business to plan work schedules for yard operations and grading team;
- Co-ordinating customer orders in accordance with the production schedule for the business; •Liaising with transport companies;
- Ensuring high standards of product quality;
- Maintaining product traceability to ensure customer and industry protocols are met;
- Responsibility for the correct storage of products;
- Maintaining a safe, healthy and tidy workplace;
- A background in fresh produce production is preferable, but not essential;
- For the right candidate, a general agricultural background will be considered;
- Experience of forklift operations desirable, but not essential as for the right candidate training will be provided;
Pay range £30,000 – £40,00 dependent upon skills and experience
Regular hours are Monday-Friday with an expectation to work overtime during busy periods
Pension scheme with NEST. Christmas to New Year shutdown within 28 day paid holiday allowance.
Full UK drivers licence required.
Due to location, own transport will be necessary
